Despite his status as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) icon, Gordon Ryan didn’t hesitate to spar with the winner of the World’s Strongest Man competition.
As one of the top grapplers globally, Ryan is quite formidable, standing at 6’2″ and weighing around 230 lbs, thanks to common training techniques in BJJ. His physical strength, combined with a wealth of technique, has fueled his remarkable winning streak in recent years. Yet, during a recent training session, this muscular BJJ champion found himself significantly outsized as he sparred with two renowned Strongman victors, Thor Bjornsson, known as “The Mountain”, and Martins Licis.
Bjornsson, a Game of Thrones celebrity and 2018 World’s Strongest Man titleholder stands an imposing 6-foot-9. He has recently become leaner since his victory, having previously weighed around 450 lbs.
